Susan Clifton has been and continues to be a businesswoman on the rise in San Diego.
As one of the original women to own and operate a promotion and special events production company,
the multi-talented owner of Hollywood South Productions, combines a rich background of business
and marketing skills with extensive knowledge in broadcast production and special events,
resulting in professional events, promotions, publicity and productions with a true Hollywood flair.
After receiving a bachelors degree from San Diego State University, Susan began her career in 1979
as promotions consultant for San Diego's only Disco radio station K-105 FM, forming the stations
"Dynamite Dancing Review", a promotional vehicle to perform at special events, grand
openings, and client parties. Susan worked closely with their ad agency, the international
firm Young and Rubicam (Y&R), to create promotional projects for Y&R's clients... ranging
from the local introductions of the movie "Star Trek" to promoting the arrival of the Chinese
Gymnasts to the United States.
She later took this gained experience and became Vice-President of Marketing and Production for
Sountrax Recording Studios. There, along with many other responsibilities, she produced
enticing radio commercials and multimedia presentations for her various clients.
In 1982, Susan combined her talents and efforts and opened Hollywood South Productions.
Since then, clients have looked to Hollywood South Productions for their specialized services of
bringing together the best talent and ideas to create outstanding and memorable events... all to
fit specific marketing, promotional or PR needs.
Hollywood South creates quality productions for businesses, corporations, and non-profit organizations
in San Diego as well as throughout the United States.
Susan, a respected individual in her field, is also an involved citizen in her community. She
is a member of the San Diego Greater Chamber of Commerce, The Convention and Visitors Bureau, The
Advertising Club of San Diego, The National Advertising Federation, The California Restaurant Association,
The La Jolla Playhouse Center Stage Club, The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, The Mercy Women's
Auxiliary, Scripps Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary, and The San Diego Opera Society.
Awards won include Best of Broadcast (SanDi Awards), National Toyota Promotion Award, Advertising Club
of San Diego Double Volunteer Award, The Starlight Society Outstanding Women of San Diego Award, The
Advertising Club of San Diego Years of Service Award, Leukemia Society Woman of the Year Runner-Up,
and finalist in the 1998 Bank of America Business Enterprise Awards.
